About

My name is Glynis. I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Even though I was a teenager during the 'Hippy Era', I had no desire to leave home to hang out at Haite and Asberry in San Francisco and be high on something. I did agree with some of the new philosophies of the times so I devoted my free time to things like The Walk From Hunger and rallies protesting the war in Viet Nam. My hobbies at the time were playing the flute, dabbling in painting, snow skiing, and swimming.

It was right after I got out of high school when I became disabled. All the dreams I had flew out the window into oblivion. But . . . I found a new interest that I kept busy with for over 20 years . . . Social Work. Despite the disability, I went to college and was so good at it that after just 1½ semesters, one of my instructors asked me for permission to insert a report I did into a journal that would be available for all at the library. After college, I finally landed a job as a patient representative at the state hospital. I worked in this position for over 10 years and loved it. You have to admit that there's satisfaction in forcing government agencies to pay for hospital bills.

Except for what I did at my job, I didn't have any interest in computers until I got married for the second time. My husband was in communications when he was active-duty Air Force. It was my husband who insisted that we needed to buy a PC. I wonder if he regrets that decision now. I never even thought about being 'online' until my son and my step-daughter were grown. The first time clicking on the icon with the two little PCs and hearing the whirl of the phone line connecting was in January of 1999. Within three months I had found some sites that featured web design information and graphic software and was feverishly saturated in the process of learning this new world of art. Right now, I'm learning more about how to write for the internet in hopes of landing a home-based job.
